...into.your.vains...

check out this video of my bad ass best friends, and amazing clients- VAINS OF JENNA!
How did this relationship of Vains and I even start? Blame it on bassist Jp White- my "wing dick" and best friend I love, hitting on me 2 1/2 years ago at The Dragonfly- and here we are 2 1/2 years later- best friends, and the little fashion monster, who's been dressing and undressing rock stars for 10 years now, is so proud to have Vains not only as clients, but my family... modern day Pennylane's really do exist... and I'm the proof my fashion junkies. Hope to see all of my LA friends at their big record release party this Friday, April 1st!! And for everyone else check their website for their U.S tour dates!!

...spring.flings...

...black.hole.sun...

the weather is finally heating up in the daytime, rain clouds are clearing- and making me feel like all of those endless S/S 2011 fashion shows I've been dragging my heels to- in the pouring rain, or shine!! Are finally starting to kick in... and inspire my first spring post!! Of course don't jump for joy just yet fashion junkies... this old soul is feeling her hippie shakes with the 70's vibe grooving all the way home, but in the dark color palettes as usually expected ;) (well for all your "color lovers"- just take a cue from my shapes and styles, and try out these styles in off whites, purples and mauve- with suede for days added in this delicious dish)- and you're ready to stomp the streets in style my little monsters...

...forbidden.fruit...

...where.it.takes.you...

the moment I hear this song... Smashing Pumpkins song, 1979 off of that fucking EPIC record, Siamese Dream- my mind immediatly flashes back to:

being in high school... maybe it's fresh man year- and riding around with my best friends Lexy and Sabrina, smoking weed- sneaking drinks- and being the bad little bitches we were...

-we were this music video-
(of course with the minor tweak that we were the snobby, private school- credit card swiping, high school ruling little rich girls version of it)

and I feel high just from thinking of the nostalgia of that time... we were so free- free from the real world of deadlines, jobs, bills, careers, rent, follow your head or your heart... where our actions would result to- the whole idea of responsibility- consequences- it just didn't exist to us, and is still the most jagged little pill that people try to shove down my throat as I throw up and tell society to fuck itself- and let the artist be the artist... and flash my middle finger to the rule reigning dictators of "our society" when I'm screaming to be myself- as they scramble in attempts to try to put their hands over my mouth...

I smile hearing this song... and know that we weren't doing anything wrong, or being "bad"- we were just being ourselves, and were never afraid to let everyone know it..

What’s up, fellow drummers around the world! It’s a great pleasure for me to write a blog here on moderndrummer.com and share my story with you all. My name is Jacki Stone. I’m twenty-four years old and the drummer of Vains of Jenna. I’m originally from a little town in Sweden. In 2005 I relocated to Los Angeles and I’ve been based out of there for the past five years.

The first time I had the opportunity to play drums was back in ’97, when I borrowed my uncle’s drumkit over the summer. I remember all the kids on the block wanted to come and jam at my home every day. It was total madness. I can’t believe my parents could stand the noise that we were making all day. But that was such a great time, and I loved pounding those drums, even though it probably sounded terrible.

In ’99 I joined my first band, which was with some friends from school. We played around the local area of our town. As we were still in school during the time, we never really tried to spread our wings outside the local town. We were just having fun, playing after school, killing some time in a pretty dead town. After playing in that band through out my early teens and high school years, we split up. In 2005, I, alongside my big brother J.P. White (bass), long-time best friend Nicki Kin (lead guitar), and our former singer, started Vains of Jenna. Nicki was also a member of my local band, so we have been playing together for forever.

Fast-forward six years from the start of the band, we’ve released two full-length albums, Lit Up Let Down in 2006, and The Art of Telling Lies in 2009. We toured with numerous bands (Cradle of Filth, GWAR, CKY, Poison, Ratt, Wednesday 13, Crucified Barbara, Viking Skull, and more) in the U.S., Europe, and South America. In 2010, our singer at the time quit and we found our new voice of the band in Jesse Forte, who was from the local L.A. music scene. We released an EP, We Can Never Die, the same year, and as we speak we’re ready to release our third album, Reverse Tripped. This is a full-on covers album, with fifteen great songs. Our first single is a remake of Cee-Lo Green’s hit “F You.” Next up we’re going out on a two-month headlining tour, in May and June.

...an.homage.to.dame.elizabeth.taylor...

Today we have lost one of the most iconic and influential women in the world... Dame Elizabeth Taylor passed away today, at the age of 79 of heart failure. Waking up to this horrific news (and FIRE ALARMS GOING OFF THROUGH OUT MY ENTIRE BUILDING FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT...)- a fashion homage was definitely in order right away...

Born in Hampstead, London in 1932- the violet eyed beauty (voted most the most beautiful woman in the world in the 50s, and the only woman to have graced the cover of Life magazine the most times out of anyone, ever!) She was an infamous for her love affair of diamonds, as she was for her many love affairs...

Cleopatra in 1963- with costumes by Renie' - her debut on the silver screen, the siren was a force to be reckoned with right away with her piercing eyes, and sharp tongue, she made her appearance as one that would forever impact us all...
